The Allderdice Project
About The Allderdice Project
The stories of Willam A.G. Fisher are legendary. For two decades, he inspired thousands of students. Through his compassion, patience, and wit, he managed to create a warm and safe environment for his pupils to “know something, do something, and be something.” In his words, he created “a family.”
For those of us who remember, Allderdice was not always this familial. In the years preceding Mr. Fisher’s tenure, the school was rife with violence and division. It was a reflection of the tumultuous times. Within his first three months, Mr. Fisher turned the school around.
With Mr. Fisher’s blessing, we have been writing and developing a limited series which covers the period in question. It is a “coming of age” historical drama based on true events. It takes place over a three year period in Pittsburgh. From the wake of the MLK assassination to Mr. Fisher’s first year at Allderdice, the series draws upon diverse perspectives of little-known incidents specific to Pittsburgh and Allderdice in that era.
How you can help!
We are asking for your endorsement of this project as we work on our presentation to pitch the series to various studios. If you are interested in helping out in any other way, that would be greatly appreciated (i.e. props, wardrobe, locations, etc.) As it is a period piece with a seemingly niche but necessary story, it would help our producers know that there is grassroots enthusiasm for such an endeavor.
